Christian International School of Prague’s program is taught in English. One of the goals of the school is to prepare its graduates for admission to colleges and universities in North America and around the world. CISP admits some students who are not fluent in English. These students are enrolled in the English Language Learning (ELL) Program. This class supports student growth in reading, writing, listening and speaking English. Students continue in the ELL classes until their English proficiency test scores show they are ready to graduate from the ELL Program.
All ELL students are encouraged to obtain additional English instruction (tutoring) outside of Christian International School of Prague’s program. This is especially recommended for children in grades 4 and above. Arranging and paying for extra tutoring is the responsibility of the parents.
Evaluation of ELL Students
In core subjects, students will be evaluated according to the school’s grading scale. Students’ assessment conditions may be modified according to their English Language Learning (ELL) needs. On grade reports, teachers record how expectations were modified for ELL reasons. A significant part of the students’ grade reflects effort, attitude and attendance.
In other classes such as ELL, Art, Music, PE, and sometimes Mathematics, students are graded according to the school’s grading scale without modifications.
