Aspiring to Impact Eternity
CISP has grown by 60% in the past 3 years and has the potential to impact more families moving forward. We need more space and the Aspire Fund is dedicated to helping CISP to build a building that is far more than bricks and mortar. We continue to strive in reaching our vision of developing students who are followers of Jesus among the nations expressing their faith by thinking biblically, and loving and serving their communities for Him.
Prague is a city on the crossroads. To the north is Berlin and to the south is Vienna. A 2-hour flight to the east or the west will take you to Paris or Kiev. It is not an exaggeration to say that Prague, the city of 100 spires, is at the heart of Europe. But that heart no longer beats for Christ.
At every street turn, Prague’s rich history and Christian heritage permeate the view of the traveler. Cathedrals, statues of historical Church figures, and the traditions of the culture show a history of faith. These beautiful structures may still stand, but their foundation has been long forgotten. You will no longer hear the teachings of Jan Hus or cathedrals filled with joyful chorus. Within this atheistic country, the Christian International School of Prague was founded.
In the midst of continued growth, there have been many changes to CISP. Over the years, God has faithfully met the school’s facilities needs in unique ways. At times, when additional classrooms were needed, high school classes met in rented apartments off-campus.
Currently, CISP shares a building on Legerova with three other schools. Working in a shared building is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to neighboring schools, however, the Legerova building poses security concerns.
In 2017-18, there were over 130 students enrolled at CISP and a staff of 60. These numbers represent a growth pattern that can no longer be contained by the 21 rooms in the Legerova building. Without a larger facility, CISP cannot continue to grow. This will limit the mission of CISP and its potential impact on the future generation of Christian leaders.
What benefits will a new building bring to CISP? CISP was created to provide an affordable, Christ focused education and that foundation is non-negotiable. A new building will enhance CISP’s ability to address the space needed from student growth. But the Aspire Fund is about more than a building. This project will allow organizations to host missions conferences, educational conferences, and other training opportunities in the heart of Europe. Sports, drama, music and other performing arts ministries would have a platform of presentation. Local churches could meet on a regular basis or as needed. There are avenues of ministry yet to be uncovered that a new CISP building could host.
Project Plans
We aspire for this project to provide a center that impacts central Europe. A building that hosts teaching and preaching of the Gospel, hosts conferences to equip others in their mission, music performances, athletic events, mission training, language schools, and a myriad of other opportunities we have not even fathomed at this point. All within the command to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
